No — AutoCAD is not required to lock the file. However, to view a locked file, the end user needs AutoCAD or any DXF-compatible software.

GhofleCad specializes in DXF files — the universal AutoCAD data exchange format. Other CAD formats will be added in future releases.

Currently our focus is on DXF. If you have a DWG file, first convert it to DXF (in AutoCAD: Save As → DXF), then lock it.

No — under no circumstances. The watermark is embedded directly into the file structure and cannot be removed, cropped, or edited. It remains even when opened in other CAD software.

No. The EXPLODE command is disabled in locked files. Any attempt to reverse-engineer or extract drawing components will fail.

Yes. A locked file is fully viewable, printable, and reviewable — but no one can edit or modify it. This is precisely the concept of "visible but untouchable."

No. Your original file stays untouched. GhofleCad creates a separate locked version that you can deliver to clients or contractors.

Yes. Locked files work with all AutoCAD versions (2000 through 2026) and DXF-compatible software such as BricsCAD, ZWCAD, and DraftSight.
